Psychological Evaluations

Children are complex creatures!  When they struggle at home or at school with learning or with emotions or behavior, it can be confusing and frustrating.  We all want our kids to ride smoothly through life.  It can be horrible when they have gotten off track.

Psychological evaluations provide a deep understanding of how the child learns, feels, thinks and experiences the world.  We find out why the child is struggling.  The anger and frustration and worry evaporate when we know what the problem is and how to help.

Evaluations are also available to understand a child who may not be struggling.  Gathering information about children to uncover their gifts is also important.  Please see the specialty section for more information about specific types of evaluations offered.

The process can start with a phone consultation or a face-to-face meeting to determine what sort of testing would be most helpful. Please note that I work on a fee-for-service basis and am not contracted with any insurance network.

Most full evaluations involve an intake session with the parents, two testing sessions with the child, and a feedback session.  The intake and testing sessions can often be scheduled during one week, with the feedback session scheduled a week or two later.  If you are coming from out of town, I am able to provide most evaluations on a single day or over two days to minimize travel expenses.
